Silas had come to read the pitch schedules to find out when there would be open spots to reserve it. The teenager needed to also give the Ravenclaw team list to Madam Hooch. Another reason was that usually Madam Hooch would have the first Quidditch matches scheduled already out. He wanted a quick peak to see who would be playing first. What he had not expected was to run into anyone else on this floor on the way out of the office.

It was Weasley's sister. He'd had classes with her for the past four years and he could say that he was a bit intimidated by her when it came to certain areas. She'd always been looking at Potter and that had always been funny to watch. Her obvious crush and Potter's ignorance of it. Silas himself might have been obvious in his crush on Luna before she befriended the Gryffindors. After that he made sure to distance himself and really, a crush was very silly.

Cordially he nodded at her, "Weasley." As with most of his classmates, he was neutral towards them. Curious though since he knew she wasn't a Prefect stated, "Madam Hooch isn't in right now, but her list is if you're here to take a look."

(ooc: Sorry, couldn't think of anything for the title >_< )

It had been an interesting time so far at Hogwarts. Ginny wasn’t sure what all she’d managed to miss with everything that was going on, and since she’d yet to have a one-on-one instance with her Slytherin friend, she thought she might find a way to answer her own question. The curiosity was killing her, especially given the fact that she’d actually seen the other girl wandering around with the Slytherin captain, and actually seeming to enjoy the act, too!

Ginny knew she’d have to spend some time with the other girl soon so that she might find out just what the heck was going on with her and Malfoy, but that wasn’t happening right at the moment, so she did what was easiest for her. She snooped. This involved her heading to Hooch’s office with the intent to pester the woman into letting her see the Slytherin roster. If Sky had been added to the team yet, the flying instructor would have to know.

Of course, as luck would have it, the woman wasn’t there. This obvious fact was soon pointed out to her by the familiar Lestrange boy. Another obvious thing was the fact that he was somehow related to the crazy lady who’d killed Sirius, though apparently some hadn’t figured that bit out yet. Ginny would never understand how people could lack such observational skills. She’d been in classes with the boy throughout her four previous years of school, and he honestly didn’t seem bad, so she hadn’t really cared where he came from. It was her brothers who judged based on assumptions. Ginny gave people the benefit of the doubt. Or at least she tried.

That was how she was friends with Sky after all, right? She offered the boy a smile, though she rolled her eyes at his statement. “I can see that, Lestrange,” she said. She wouldn’t let him get away with the obvious comment without a bit of teasing. She couldn’t help but notice how up-tight the boy always seemed. He really should just loosen up a bit. “Does she have the house rosters there? Er… the updated ones, I mean. If anyone’s updated yet that is…” She didn’t want to tell him exactly what she was looking for, since she wasn’t really supposed to look at the other house’s papers.

“Erm… never mind. I mean, I know Harry hasn’t updated it yet. So I don’t know why I’m even asking,” she muttered, feeling awkward. She wasn’t sure how she was going to get out of this situation. Somehow she didn’t think he’d let her get away with this instance of what could be viewed as cheating. Even if it was a good natured venture. She just wanted to check up on a friend after all…

A slight upturn of his lips showed that Silas was amused with the return. Well turnabout was fairplay. Curious as to her nervousness, the Ravenclaw part of him tried to take in everything. Actually that was also the Black and Lestrange part of him. With a dash of natural curiousness thrown in the mix along with his personality. It would be obvious that he just had to get to the bottom of it. Weasley was acting like she had broken a rule.

"Wondering if you made it?" Silas wondered. Hopefully it wouldn't be the Beater position. She would be formiddable and give her brothers a run for their money. That was his oppinion. Those were the open positions that he knew of with the vacancy left by the twin terrors.

In a brief bit of straightforward honesty, the teenager shook his head. "I haven't looked."

Before he'd had a chance the Gryffindor had shown up. It seemed they both were there for more then their own team lists. Judging by her behavior. Amusement evident he pressed, "Are we going to be doing.something not highly approved of?"

Rolling her eyes at the Ravenclaw, Ginny let out a nervous sigh. ”There’s no reason I wouldn’t make it, really. I’m the best chaser this school’s seen in years and Harry’d be a fool not to see that.” The redhead shook her head and let out a slight laugh. This guy sure was quick to the chase, wasn’t he? Well, if he was going to be so lax about their little situation, why shouldn’t she?

”Well, it probably isn’t exactly approved of, but I don’t think it is technically against the rules,” she said slowly, her eyes lighting up with a sense of mischief. ”So is that ‘we’ meaning me in a condescending way, or are you in with whatever crazy scheme I have up my sleeve then, Lestrange? ‘Cause I can’t say it wouldn’t make it a lot easier if you just decided to come along for the ride. I mean, I’d rather not have to stun you or something.”

The youngest Weasley cocked her head at the boy, a lopsided grin slowly taking form. Perhaps he would help her get into the closed office and check on the Slytherin roster… The boy did have a certain reputation of dislike toward his cousin, and it would definitely piss Malfoy off for the two of them to have weaseled their way into Hooch’s office and checked out his team records.

Ginny figured she probably had to explain her goal to her fellow fifth year in order to convince him to lend her a hand. The redhead took a deep breath and then shrugged her shoulders, figuring if the prefect wanted to dock points or assign her some kind of detention he’d do it anyway so she might as well attempt to lure him into the lion’s den with her.

”Wanna help me get into this office and take a look at Malfoy’s roster? Rumor has it he might be giving up his precious Seeker position, and I’m rather impatient to see if it’s true.”

Keeping his tongue still about Potter's foolishness, Silas instead arched a brow. Smiling a little he shook his head. No, he didn't think it was against the rules to peek either. Howevermuch it was discouraged. Then again, sometimes it seemed as if the teachers were trying to get them to break the rules or subvert them in some form or another. Rules were mere guidlines in any case, meant to be broken, bent, and gone around.

"How do you know I was not speaking in the royal context?" He teased back. He'd actually meant to either join or follow but how could he pass up the opportunity to talk back? "Isn't that a line you should use on Riley? I'm sure he'd have a very nice come back for you."

Surprised at that, Silas pondered. He hadn't known that. Wasn't the whole reason he wanted the Seeker position was because of Potter? Oh, maybe that was it. Temptation and the Dark Lord's threat. This would be interesting. Maybe he should.... Looking over at the Weasley girl he gave a conspiratorial smile he gave a brief nod.

"Then let us proceed and see what my dear cousin has been up to shall we?" Tilting his head he asked, "Your brothers, the usueful ones, they didn't happen to teach you how to pick a lock?"

Ginny let the boy’s comment about Riley pass without saying anything, and instead flashed him a grin. It seemed he would be in on her little game if the eagerness in his eyes was anything to go by. Of course, when he actually gave his affirmation on the quest and asked about her lock-picking skills, that kind of told her he was definitely in for the ride. That was good, considering things like this were usually more fun with a partner in crime.

”I don’t know how you can stand being related to that bloody pompous ferret,” she commented with a shake of her head. It was even stranger to imagine a girl actually putting up with Malfoy’s crap, but if anyone could put him in his place she was pretty sure it would be Skyler. ”Did you happen to think of just trying the door, genius?” she asked with a raised brow before reaching out and doing just that. Of course, it was locked, but it was worth a shot. After all, it would be dumb to be trying to unlock an open door…

She sighed and took out her wand, trying an alohomora. Of course, it wouldn’t be that easy either. The thing that struck her as almost dumb was the fact that she didn’t actually know if there was even any treasure to be found in this locked fortress. Ginny put that thought aside and stuck her wand in the butt pocket of her pants, trying to ignore the echo of ‘Constant Vigilance’ ringing in the back of her head. ”The twins did teach me a bit about lock picking, but I’m utter bollocks at it, so it might take a while…” She didn’t comment on the way he referenced Fred and George, but she did rather like it.

Digging in one of her front pockets, Ginny pulled out a bobby pin and looked up at the Ravenclaw before focusing on the lock of the door. ”You watch our backs and warn me if anyone is coming. If we get caught at this We’re gonna be in such deep shit…” With that, the redhead ducked down on one knee and stuck her tongue out the side of her mouth, a look of utter concentration on her face as she worked on the lock. Every now and again she peered up at the Ravenclaw with a curious gleam in her eyes.

Finally, she just couldn’t hold back any longer. ”Shouldn’t you be, like, killing me on sight or something? I mean, not that I’m not enjoying spending time with you as surprising as that seems to me, but… You know… Lestrange? It kinda has some connotations…”

Arching a brow at the insult to his cousin Silas only shrugged. How could he say anything when there was nothing he could do about it. It wasn't like he could change his genetics to not be related to the Malfoy clan. However at the insult to his intelligence he sneered at her. As if that hadn't been the first thing he tried. Giving her a self-satisfied and gloating smirk, his eyes still held his amusement.

Watching as Ginny drew her wand, Silas kept his mouth shut and refrained from rolling his eyes. There was a reason he had asked her if she knew how to pick locks. She had how many siblings and she didn't know there was a spell to know who cast magic? He hadn't wanted his magical signature on anything. And who knew if there was anything to alert the instructor if magic was used on the door.

"Shame, the one mundane skill that shouldn't be looked down on and you don't know it."

Did she really trust him to watch her back? He could at the first sign of trouble run and leave her to take the blame. "Classy language, Weasley. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"

Looking down a frown wanted to tug at his mouth. Instead he wiped his face of all emotion, eyes shuttered. Again with the assumptions. They'd been in the same classes for going on five years now. Had he shown any signs of 'killing on sight' some of his other questionable classmates? If anything shouldn't he have finished the job his parents had started and finish off Longbottom if what she was implying true.

Leaning against the wall, eyes on the corridor he asked, "In what context were you inferring? The strange? Yes, I suppose I am strange for choosing Ravenclaw over Slytherin."

Cold humor danced in his eyes as Silas icily smiled. Sarcasm dripped from the words he next spoke. "Or do you mean to imply that I should be killing all Weasleys because they dared to not bow to the gloriousness that is my family relations?"

Rolling her eyes at the boy, Ginny ignored him for the most part, focusing on the lock picking she was trying to accomplish without breaking the stupid door somehow. Bad luck seemed to hover over her shoulder, so she wasn’t about to take any chances with the damned thing. She merely flashed him a grin when he commented on her language before getting back to work, groaning in frustration when the pin bent rather unfortunately in her fingers.

”You are strange for so many other reasons,” she commented, fixing the pin with her teeth and trying the lock again. ”I… well, I don’t think you should be killing us,” a pink blush rose to her cheeks as she searched for appropriate words. ”It’s just, well, I mean… Your family really doesn’t like mine. Not that mine is much better to them.”

Ginny tilted her head at the boy and grinned as she came to a decision. ”You know what though? We aren’t our families. We’re ourselves, and we can behave however we want. I have decided that, though you are a bit of a sarcastic prat, I want to be friendly with you, Silas. So,” she said happily, sticking out her hand toward the boy. ”What do you say? Oh! I think I just got the lock!”

Sure enough, her left hand had kept mindlessly jiggling at the bobby pin and the lock finally clicked. Well, if he shook the offered hand, they were in business. If not… Ginny didn’t really know what happened if he didn’t accept her offer of friendship. Probably just go about the break in as they started and then go back to avoiding the Ravenclaw. Somehow that seemed disheartening though, and the redhead hoped he took a chance.

Curious about what she meant, Silas just arched a brow. He supposed compared to most people, even his cousin, he was different. He was however just as proud and rude as the rest of his kind it seemed. Sarcasm was just another article of clothing they wore. Dismissing it though since he didn't care really what she thought of him, he kept his eyes scanning the hallways. It was his luck that there were no portraits on the walls around the office. He'd been a bit tetchy when it came to being spied on and disliked that he hadn't considered the thought before that the paintings could be reporting all student behavior right back to the headmaster or the professors.

"I wonder why," he sarcastically drawled in response about her comment about their families. There was no question really why their families disliked one another. His had always been dark save Sirius Black. Hers on the other hand seemed to be all light. There was the fact that the Weasley's were easy to rile up and had huge egos which were quite fun to try and burst. Their self-righteousness was a bit annoying as well and just made one itch to shut them up.

Actually looking at the red head when she said she wanted to be friendly, he gave her an incredulous look. Putting on a mock excited face he chirped, "Why didn't I think of that! All this time, I could have been someone different." Dropping the act he rolled his eyes. "Ive only been doing that for fifteen years now. And no offense, but I don't shake hands."

From what he'd observed of the girl for the past five years, he wasn't sure he wanted to be friends. Yes, he could stay neutral towards her, possibly move towards allies or even associates. Shoving away from the wall, he pushed open the now unlocked door and gestured for her to go first. Smirking he stated, "Let's see what the rosters say, shall we?"

Deciding she was definitely accurate in describing the boy as a sarcastic prat, Ginny rolled her eyes right back at the Ravenclaw and dropped her had with a sigh. ”Right,” she said simply and looked through the open door. Well, now it was time to decide if she was really going to break the rules. Technically she’d broken them by popping the lock, but that was small compared to actually entering the office. It was especially risky when she didn’t even know exactly where she stood with her current partner in crime. If they were to get caught, she knew he could blame her for everything, especially if she took the first steps into the office.

The redhead shrugged her shoulders and let out a breath before walking confidently into the small space before the Ravenclaw. She was nothing if not foolishly brave, after all. Getting in trouble wasn’t exactly foreign territory for her either. If Silas decided to turn her in it wouldn’t be the first time she’d been stabbed in the back, so she wasn’t all that worried, really.

”Alright. Now, where would you put the rosters if you were Hooch? And we should probably close the door you know. Less obvious that we’re snooping around.” She wasn’t sure how she felt about being in a small space with the boy, but they’d basically just agreed to a truce of sorts, right? So it should be fine. Right? Right. At least that was what she was going with as she started rifling through papers on the desk.

Letting the girl go first was so in case there were any traps she would trigger them. Waiting a minute or two he followed, eyes scanning the office taking in the decore. He'd never been in a professor's office if he couldn't help it. Any and all questions he had he would ask after class in the classroom. It was familiar territory and not personal. The professor's made the office space theirs. While it would prove fascinating to see if they spilled out their personal lives there, Silas wasn't interested that much. The benefits didn't outweigh the risks.

"What kind of person is Hooch?" Silas didn't wait for the redhead to answer since it was a rhetorical question. "She's a bit like Pomfrey. No nonesense, straight to the point and likely organized."

Showing that he'd heard her comment about the door, he had shut it as they talked. If they had honestly stumbled upon the unlocked office it would have been better to leave it open. Not knowing how long it would take to locate the rosters and being caught going through a professor's papers a closed door was best. There was the added benefit, as distasteful as it was, that they could claim to have sought the room to have a quick snog. That was what teenagers did wasn't it?

Hopefully the wouldn't have to result to that. Irritably he waved his hand at the desk. "It'll probably be easy to access."

Ginny was quickly getting tired of the flippant Ravenclaw’s presence. He was just so… annoying. Snippy and arrogant. Didn’t he think she knew a single thing about searching for stuff? The witch who held this office was obviously rather organized, and she seemed to have a list of reserved practice times posted on a personal bulletin, as if she was planning to actually post them for the students to see once she had them more in order. Well, if that was the case, Ginny thought she would probably have the rosters in a similar place.

When she looked around for them, however, there was no sign. Could Hooch have taken them with her? Well, that would be fitting, wouldn’t it? Ginny and Lestrange, searching a locked office for papers that weren’t even there. She growled, ready to choke the stupid Ravenclaw. ”Either shut your mouth and help, or shut your mouth and keep watch. Just do be sure to shut your damn mouth!” She just couldn’t hold it back any longer. At this moment she was so frustrated she wanted to punch someone, and the nearest someone happened to be the annoying Ravenclaw who she shared this stupid mission with.

Just as she was about to snap at him about something else, she noticed a noise that sounded suspiciously like a key in a lock. Then a muffled sound like someone questioning the unlocked state of the door. Oh dear Merlin. They were about to be caught. She stared at Lestrange with panic in her eyes. What the hell were they going to do? There was nowhere to bloody hide! The door was starting to open. Oh gods… They were toast!

Silas' shoulders shook with silent laughter at getting the red head's dander up. Finally! It seemed he'd found the point that she would draw the line. It helped that they were in a predicament that was just a tad stressful. If she was this touchy and irritable then what was she like when she was actually doing something that could really get her into trouble? It seemed that he was finally going to be entertained. And really, was that the best she could come up with? And here he'd been looking forward to her more...interesting come backs.

Eyes shooting to the door when it sounded like they would be interrupted, he looked to see that the Weasley girl was panicking. Lovely. Shoving his disgust and resignation down and knowing that it would likely earn him a slap, Silas grabbed the girl pulling her flush against him. Dipping his head down he pressed his lips against hers in order for it to appear that they'd snuck into the office for a bit of a snog rather then what they had actually come there for. The red head was going to owe him for this!
