Story Line

This storyline strays from canon quite a bit, so if you are a stickler for canon, then this is most likely not the site for you. Just a fair warning in advance.

Tom Riddle, while still in school, found many things wrong with the wizarding world, things he wanted to change. Charming, intelligent, cunning, manipulative, ambitious, and a natural born leader, it was no surprise that he thrived in Slytherin House, and it wasn't long before, after sharing his thoughts and plans with a select few, that he began to gain a following. It also wasn't surprising that he took a liking to both wizarding politics, and the Dark Arts, studying both in his free time while still at Hogwarts. He discovered his family history, his lineage, and uncovered many truths while at Hogwarts, and during his last year or so, developed the name that would one day be known throughout the wizarding world, and strike fear with its every utterance. Lord Voldemort. But only his closest, most truthworthy followers would know him personally by this name. To everyone else, it would be a name without a face.

Albus Dumbledore stood in his way. Arguably the most prestigious wizard of his time, Albus had the entire support of the ministry, and might as well have been Minister of Magic. The Headmaster had heard whispers of Tom and his plans, and Tom knew he wouldn't get far with Albus pulling all the strings. And so, instead of going to the ministry to work after Hogwarts, Tom, one of the most brilliant students to ever walk the halls of the castle, went off to study abroad. He spent years visiting other magical communities, networking, gaining support of his ideals, and exploring branches of magic no longer taught within the walls of any school. He did this, all under the name of Eadric Chancellor, giving himself a new name and history, so as to never be connected to the name Tom Riddle again.

It was years later when the name Lord Voldemort was first heard in Britain by the masses, when his Dark Mark hung above a muggleborn's home, their muggle family members dead. It was announced death by the use of the Killing Curse. Next, the Dark Mark hung above a ministry official's home. Tortured, and then killed. Series of attacks continued on, and the war began. Lord Voldemort (Tom/Eadric) targeted muggleborn families and Dumbledore supporters within the ministry. His face he never showed, not even to his supporters, and they grew in number, and he set them loose in the muggle world, where they targeted the intolerant, the abusive, any that would pose a threat to one of wizardkind.

Dumbledore formed the Order of the Phoenix, and they fought back, launching counter attacks to Voldemort's Death Eaters, trying to protect muggles, and muggleborns, whom they assumed were being targeted. But the more he tried to put a dent in Albus' support, the more the Headmaster seemed to get, and so the war raged on. It would be a few years before Sybill Trelawney would give the prophecy that would change the fate of so many lives.

And when she did, Severus Snape was there to hear it all. He reported it back to Voldemort, who considered the prophecy with great caution. He knew prophecies didn't always mean what they said at face value. In the end however, he did come to the conclusion that there were only two boys who fit the prophecy at least. Neville Longbottom, and Harry Potter.
Voldemort considered his options regarding the prophesy for a good amount of time. One thing was certain. The prophesy banked on him 'marking' the child that would be his downfall. But, if the child knew not of his role in things, the prophesy would never come to pass. So Tom ordered the child to be kidnapped, by his most trusted follower, Bellatrix, one of the very few who knew who he was behind the mask and name of Lord Voldemort. The child would be raised as his heir. A powerful blood ritual was performed, an archaic ritual that had long since passed out of us, and then it was Tom's blood that flowed through the child's veins, making up the father's half of his DNA. The child would never grow to resemble James Potter, but instead, would get features and tendencies, habits and power, from Tom himself.

Tom knew that magic like the ritual performed left its own mark, and so he had, in essence, fulfilled that part of the prophesy, and marked his own ultimate downfall. But he was confident that his plan to thwart the prophesy would succeed. Of course, Dumbledore had to be led to believe otherwise, and so Death Eaters were ordered to the Longbottoms, where Frank died fighting, and Alice died trying to protect her only son. When Rabastan Lestrange aimed the killing curse at little Neville Longbottom, the curse rebounded because of the protection spell that was casted when Alice died for him, and Rabastan was killed, while Neville gained an odd, sun-shaped scar on the left side of his forehead.

The Death Eaters were ordered to spread the word via their public identities (those that hadn't been caught or suspected as Death Eaters) that Voldemort had fallen, Rabastan's death explained away by death at the hands of a death eater (to protect his reputation and family). Meanwhile, Albus took Neville and devised a plan for his safety, as he believed that Neville was the real chosen one, having no clue that Harry was actually alive and the one marked as Voldemort's equal. He gave baby Neville to the Potter's, who took an oath never to divulge the secret of his true identity, and to raise him as their own. From then on, Neville, was known as Harry Potter. The rest of the world would only know that the Longbottom's had been massacred, their only child along with them.

And so the Potter's were given a second chance at parenting, with the boy everyone believed to be the 'Chosen One'. The-Boy-Who-Lived. Neville grew up under the identity of Harry Potter, and the real Harry Potter, the real Chosen One, grew up under the name, of Caellum Chancellor, only son and heir, to Eadric Chancellor, the Dark Lord Voldemort, Tom Riddle. Though no one knows it.

It's been eleven years since that fateful night, and the Wizarding World has been mostly at peace. Though a power struggle has been brewing between one Eadric Chancellor, who has spent the time working his way up through the Ministry of Magic, seizing control and gaining support as he goes, and Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, and long time defender and protector of muggles and muggleborns alike. Eadric is on the cusp of being nominated for the next run of Minister of Magic, while Dumbledore heavily opposes him. Meanwhile, suspicious muggle murders are on the rise again, and they look to be targeted muggleborn families...

And Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom ready themselves for their first year at Hogwarts, under their assumed identities.
