The damn little ball got away from her, but Sky didn't allow it to frustrate her. If she got frustrated she would fall to the level the rest of the players seemed to have gotten to in the short amount of time they'd been playing. While at first things had looked up for the Slytherins, it was quickly turning around on them.

A foul was called on them and Gryffindor received a free shot, which Ginny missed. Meanwhile, while the brunette steered her broom higher in the air, her boyfriend decided he would actually play against her now. The teen rolled her eyes, taking his bump against her as the sign it was. Thank Merlin for giant male egos that refused to not be the best. His challenge only had her smirking at his back for moment. He was a little late with that one wasn't he? Maybe Harry had taken a bludger to the head at some point when she was busy actually chasing the snitch.

Either way, Sky headed in the opposite direction, above the match, searching for any sign of that golden ball. She could tell without really paying attention that the game was turning brutal below her. The brunette winced as she saw Blaise take a a few bludgers, while Draco's angry roaring at his teammates caused their keeper to miss his save and give Gryffindor their first goal. Not to mention the glare she had received from the blonde for her dive.

Things were getting bad quickly and someone needed to do something. This was probably the point where the captain actually gave advice or something but the Slytherin captain felt content to simply yell and hit bludgers at the Gryffindor seeker instead of trying to knock some of the players really doing damage out of the damn game. Sky took the time to fix the blonde with one of her own glares, clearly showing her displeasure at his immature behavior, shooting toward him on her broom and barely restraining herself from knocking him off his broom herself.

"Stop being a damn hypocrite and do your damn job so the rest of us can do ours then!!" She hissed at him, smacking him upside the head for good measure. What were they going to do? Call a penalty on her for smacking her own teammate. Not likely. He really had some nerve telling them to get their heads in the game when he was so busy trying to kill Harry while the Gryffindor beaters where murdering their chasers.

When he finally smacked a bludger at the damn loon of a beater who Sky was sure was only moments away from hitting her own teammates accidentally with her wild swings, the brunette turned her full attention back to finding the snitch. She needed to find that thing and took off with a new determination shining in her purple eyes. This game needed to end already and the Slytherin knew that Harry wouldn't be holding back this time. Not that she wasn't annoyed that he had the first time around. Damn idiot. If she had caught that snitch she would've been furious with the Gryffindor and knocked him out after the match for good measure.

Merlin, this was turning into a bloody mess if Ginny had ever seen one. At least Ron was doing better at Keeping, but people were flailing all over the place, getting hit by bludgers and threatening each other. Hell, the Slytherin Seeker had just smacked her captain upside the head, which Ginny really couldn’t blame her for. She wanted to do the same to her own captain at the moment. He wasn’t exactly giving any motivational speeches while he flew aimlessly searching for the snitch.

She grabbed the quaffle and took off toward the Slytherin hoops yet again, not trusting her other chasers to get the job done. Unfortunately a great whirlwind of dust struck up when she was halfway across the pitch, cutting her visibility to damn near zero. She was so pissed off by the dust clogging her eyes and airways that she went into gladiator mode, shoving everyone out of her way as she flew fast toward the appropriate end of the pitch.

Once she reached the hoops, she could barely see them. She focused on one well enough to shoot, then let the ball fly with great force, hoping the Keeper was a blinded and confused as she was. Would they even be able to see it if it did score to mark it on the board? She groaned, cursing the gods themselves. Why in the hell was this game going so horribly?

At least they were tied for the moment. Maybe even grabbing the lead if that shot wasn’t too horrible. Of course, they’d have to score at least fifteen more times to actually win if Sky caught the snitch. Ginny didn’t even want to think about the pressure she was under. Instead, she focused on trying to breathe and not fall off her damn broom.

Orion actually groaned when Blaise took another bit by a bludger. Their best chaser was taking a bad beating and he was sure the other boy wasn't going to be able to take much more. It was at this point in the match when he began wishing he was a beater so that he could hit some of them at that lunatic of a Gryffindor beater. Or maybe just hit her in the head with the bat and say he thought her head was the bludger. Of course, that might succeed in the other team getting another penalty shot, but atleast it would make him feel better.

It seemed he wasn't the only one becoming frustrated with Malfoy, as Orion watched their Seeker pull from her search for the snitch to give the blonde a nice smack upside his head. He couldn't say he didn't agree. Blaise ended some kind of help out there from the beater or this match would be a bloody forfeit. He thanked Merlin for Riddle because their captain seemed to get enough sense in him to smack a bludger at someone other than Potter and hit that bloody Gryffindor beater with a hard one.

The Weaselette came streaking toward his side of the pitch and he readied himself to defend his hoops. Orion wasn't about to let her score on him again. When she was about halfway down the pitch a bloody dust storm kicked up, so sudden that the force of the wind of it knocked him off his course a bit. Years of experience was all that allowed Orion to keep his broom steady, but the biggest issue was the damn dirt and other shit flying around and making visibility and breathing a real challenge.

One would think they would've been used to the unexpected happening when playing the Gryffindors. It was all Potter's fault, he was sure. The bloody specky git was like a charm for the unexpected and impossible. If something crazy was going on it usually had something to do with Potter. Growling, Orion knew beforehand that this would be one his most difficult saves. Considering he could barely bloody see the quaffle at all, much less where it was going. He found himself hoping the harpy's throw would be off thanks to the wind but no such luck.

He was able to see enough to know it was flying directly into one of his hoops and spurred into action what might have been a second too late, but it didn't stop him from trying. The rest of his team might be ready to forfeit to the lions but Orion was not. He needed to get back in this game and fast, but the bloody hurricane of dust and dirt wasn't making it easy at all. He pulled forward, attempting to knock the ball away. With any luck one of his chasers would be there to catch it if he managed it.

Aimee was so busy celebrating her second bludger to take Zabini in the head, waving her bat over her head and whooping, that she had no chance to defend herself as the other bludger caught her squarely in her bat shoulder. “Muffins!” she shrieked, trying not to swear as she normally would because she didn’t want to be the next one to get a penalty. That really stung, and her shoulder felt off.

She flew quickly to the ground so she could feel it, and noted that the bone didn’t feel like it was in right. It must be dislocated. Grimacing through the pain, she grabbed the shoulder with her opposite hand and quickly twisted her body, popping the vital joint back into place. It would hurt like hell for the rest of the match, and she would need to have someone fix it properly when the match ended, but it worked for now.

As she remounted her broom and kicked off to rejoin the match, a mighty cloud of dust swirled up, filling the pitch like they were in some kind of evil snow globe. The violent redhead’s eyes stung almost as much as her shoulder and visibility was almost nothing. The best thing that could happen right now would be her catching Zabini one more time and ending this disjointed bloodbath. She wasn’t sure how a technically tied score would affect the final standings, but that was for Captain Potter and male Weasley to figure out.

It didn’t matter anyway, as there was something that had to be a bludger streaking directly at Captain Potter again, and there was no way he saw it, based on the way he was flying and trying to gather his team together. She shot off as fast as her broom would go, thankfully intercepting the bludger just before it could become a danger. As she reached it she pulled her arm back and swung with control and force, sending it in the direction of Malfoy’s slicked back blonde locks. With any luck the bad conditions would keep him from seeing it and she would have her revenge.

What had started out good was turning into a nightmare of a quidditch match. The Weasel had somehow gotten his groove back and was now back to actually keeping, and his shortcomings seemed to have transferred to Orion, who had fumbled the last two saves he attempted. Which meant gryffindor was in the lead. Draco was roaring himself hoarse and had taken a bludger himself and now a real shit storm had blown upon them.

That last bludger had really done some damage, and Blaise was positive he wasn't the only one who would need the hospital wing after this match. Fitting, he thought, because rarely could snakes and lions cross paths in any way without someone needing to be healed afterwards. His flying was slower than normal, his head bloody pounding now. There was probably a good chance of a concussion but he took possession of the quaffle anyway. That in and of itself was a miracle in the tornado of dirt they were flying in.

He tucked the ball under his arm for safekeeping and barely missed another bludger, only spotting it a moment before it would have caught him in the leg if he hadn't been quick enough to move. His mouth he kept closed tightly. The last thing he needed was to choke on the dust flying around and lowered his head a bit in an attempt to keep the dirt from flying in it. Even so the wind made it that much more difficult to fly for the dark skinned wizard, considering he was wobbly enough as it were from the beating he was taking from gryffindor's beaters.

He flew as straight as he could, trying to focus on dodging the reckless bludgers and other players as he headed towards the hoops at the other end of the pitch. He could barely see them but for a faint outline but it was enough and he pulled his broom up sharply, veering towards the right only to turn it sharply towards the left again and toss the quaffle forcefully towards the center hoop. With a little luck it might make it in before the weasel king could block it.

He was in the zone now and his confidence in his skills was back, but that wasn't going to be enough to win the match for them. Bludgers were being hit with such force from both sides now that it was only a matter of time before someone got knocked off their broom and fell to the ground.

Since Harry's sole focus had become finding the snitch now that he knew the slytherin seeker could actually give him a run for his galleons, Ron took it upon himself to call out plays and advice to the chasers. The beater's already had their strategy on lock, and we're doing a good job of banging up the slytherin chasers, especially the snakes' star chaser. Ginny scored two goals for their team, which couldn't have come at a better time considering their team's morale and that his sister looked as if she might dive to the ground without her broom.

Unfortunately the weather kicked up a mighty dust storm and visibility when to crap. Ron could barely see five feet in front of him and the wind blowing dust and dirt in his face and eyes made it hard to keep his eyes open. He did anyway but he barely had time to react when Zabini was flying up out of no where to try and score a goal. The red head did his best to outmaneuver the slytherin chaser and block and his hands reached out to try and grab the quaffle as it flew threw the air.

From the bump on his girlfriend, Harry continued to show off, making loops and other fancy flying to keep both her and the audience entertained as he sought what seemed to be an especially fast, elusive snitch. This match was liable to be a long one, so he might as well enjoy himself while he did his job.

That all came to a halt when there was suddenly dust everywhere. The beaters and chasers continued doing things like trying to kill each other and scoring goals, but then their balls were black and bright red, so they would be easy to see in just about anything. A ball that was tiny, fast, and gold was going to be nearly invisible in this, so Harry needed to fly as low as he could and really focus in.

That meant that he was flying just barely above the match, in slow and careful circles that had no extra flair to them. The only time he broke his pattern in any way was to move away from bludgers when they came too close, and it was a good thing that Ron had taken over the coaching for the moment, because Harry was far too busy. Maybe they should just handle it this way going forward. Harry would run the practices and Ron could manage things once the match was underway, since Seekers spent so much of the time away from the rest of the match.

This musing was interrupted, as he caught sight of a fluttering wing. He would never have seen it, except it was close to the stands, and all of the blue clad students gave the wings something more concrete to stand out against. It was only visible for the briefest of moments, and Harry hoped that Skyler hadn’t noticed it at all. Instead of shooting off towards it right away, he waited until he was at the point closest in his pattern to where he had seen the valuable ball, and then peeled off towards it, eyes scanning frantically. It was now hovering just above the ground just below where he had seen it before. Apparently in addition to being a fast snitch, this one liked being close to the ground whenever it could. He pulled into a sharp dive, knowing that if Skyler hadn’t caught on already she would now. Hopefully he had enough of a jump on her that it didn’t matter. Hopefully he could catch the snitch before it changed direction. And most of all, hopefully this didn’t end in a highspeed faceplant, since it was hard to judge exactly where the ground was through all the dust. He stretched out his hand, ready for feel the familiar hard touch of victory.

PostSubject: Re: Announcing The First Match   Announcing The First Match - Page 3 Icon_minitimeSun Feb 23, 2014 10:15 pm

A dust storm. A fucking dust storm. Of all the things that could possibly happen, it had to be a dust storm. Skyler was sure this was somehow entirely her fault. Her luck was bad enough to wreak havoc anywhere at anytime. But why, oh why, did it have to be then.

The brunette had tried to circle higher above the game, trying to get above the storm, but it was no good for even possibly trying to see the snitch. Groaning, the brunette dropped lower, and the wind was blowing so hard hearing anything other than it was impossible. Any visual was virtually nonexistent, which meant she had to fly cautiously. Skyler didn't do cautious very well.

This meant the Slytherin had a good few narrow misses with bludgers, and at a few points as she searched the teen thought she heard the crowd roaring, but that could just as easily been the damn wind. Merlin this was terrible. How the hell was she supposed to find the snitch in this mess? Rain was one thing, but in this the little golden ball would be near impossible to see.

A small grin broke across her lips at that thought. Maybe it was a sign of some sort that her boyfriend had dubbed her impossible. Her grin grew, splitting her face, even as she kept it closed lip so as not to get dirt all in her mouth. That silly little show off of a lion. It was rather cute, all his little tricks he had performed. Of course, none of that would help him in the storm they were in, nor would he be getting to that snitch before her. But still. It was cute.

Not nearly cute enough to keep her from rolling her eyes at his show though. Or to break her focus. While he had been busy performing tricks Sky had been searching for that damn ball, but it was being impossible. Again. A sign. The brunette actually took confidence from it. If either of them was getting that snitch it would be her. Besides, it wasn't really a win to the teen if it was easy. She didn't do easy.

Losing her frustration because it had no place next to her confidence at this point, the Slytherin turned her broom sharply to avoid another bludger. As she did, her eyes caught it. Barely even there, but it was there. Movement across from her told her she wasn't the only one to see it either. Her blood pumped hard as she forced her broom into a dive, knowing without looking that this time she wasn't the only one in it. Oh but she was determined to be the one to win it.

Sky knew this was going to be rough. The wind and dirt flying in her face was testament to that, but no way was she going to ease up. She did the exact opposite, and leaned forward on her broom, forcing it to it's top speed, and her eyes never left the golden ball, afraid it might vanish into the dust again if she did. Her eyes stung, but she endured it. The only real problem was that the brunette couldn't judge the distance to the ground. This would probably end up badly for her at the speed she was going. She had great timing with dives, but usually she could see the ground.

Sky knew by the time she realized it he distance it might be too late, and that should've been enough to back off a bit, but she pushed forward, stretching her hand out hoping that damn ball would stay out for a second longer. Hoping it would give her enough time to close her fingers around it.

That had not gone as well as Harry had hoped, but it probably went about as well as could be expected. By the time he closed his hand, there was nothing there, and he was forced to use all the upper body strength he possessed to bring the broom to a stop and turn it right without smashing into the ground. When he did so, he came face to face with his girlfriend, who had clearly just finished missing the snitch in exactly the same way he had, but from a different direction.

He pulled up and smirked at her, giving her a ‘what can you do’ shrug. This was met with a smirk of her own and some good natured teasing about his flashy flying. He would have to do something about her teasing later if the match ever ended. For now he gave her another shrug and took off.

The Gryffindor seeker had had quite enough of the dust by this time, and that brush with the snitch seemed to show him that flying low and being in the middle of it was no real help. As a result he shot straight through the game and the dust, not stopping until he reached clear skies. He was even higher than he would normally fly, but he didn’t care. He would scan the pitch the best he could from here, and he wouldn’t go an inch lower until either he saw the snitch again or the dust settled.

PostSubject: Re: Announcing The First Match   Announcing The First Match - Page 3 Icon_minitimeMon Feb 24, 2014 10:21 pm

Skyler wasn't really sure how she had managed to pull up in time to avoid the crash landing she narrowly missed, but when she did her eyes met the green gaze of her boyfriend, who she was happy to see was snitch-less. The brunette managed to tease him a bit about his showing off before he flew off again.

Dammit. That snitch was being a devil, and to make matters worse the dust storm seemed to only get worse. The teen considered flying back up above the match, and the storm, but having tried that already she knew it would do no good. In order to get high enough to be above the damn storm one would be too high to see in it, and since the snitch could be just about anywhere, Skyler chose to continue her original plan of flying in it as cautiously as she she could. Which wasn't very cautious in the first place.

After about another twenty minutes of flying, in which the wind felt the need to throw her back and forth on her broom, the Slytherin was almost losing her confidence. It had been lucky that she had spotted it in the storm once. How the hell was she supposed to do it again? If only it had stayed still just one second longer that last time...

At this point, Sky was level with the stands, which she could make the outline of out through the blowing dust. The last she had checked, Harry had been far higher than she would've picked, but whatever worked for him she supposed. Twice she had to dodge bludgers, but she wasn't sure if they were actually hit at her of they were just flying by. The score she had no clue about, as she stayed circling the outside of the game, eyes squinting to see through the dusty hell they were flying in.

A few times she had unfortunately inhaled a gulp of the dirt, and had spent a good minute trying to cough up a lung and keep her broom steady. Now she was on the Gryffindor side of the pitch, flying last their house's stands, eyes scanning every which way. As she looked down toward the opposite side of the pitch, she caught the small glinting gold, standing out against the green of her own house.

Everything seemed to stop for the brunette, and at first she hovered there, eyes squinting further to make sure what she thought she was seeing was really what she was looking for. It took only a half of second for her to know that it was, indeed, the snitch. The Slytherin had no clue where Harry was, or if he had spotted it or what, but what she did know was that she was currently almost dead even with the little golden ball, and that she was ready for this game to end and to get out of this dust and dirt.

Skyler turned her broom sharply, which was made difficult by the fact that the wind was flowing against her. She gritted her teeth and leaned flat on her broom, knowing she was in for a bumpy ride as for a second time that day, the teen shot through the rest of the players in a race to get to the other side of the pitch and the snitch before it could disappear on her again.

Her hopes were almost completely dashed when she nearly collided with a chaser, but Sky was on tunnel vision and didn't even know if it were her own chaser or one of Harry's she nearly knocked from their broom. The brunette stretched her hand out for a third time, hoping to Merlin that this time would be the final time.
